The fifth annual BitSummit, a Japanese indie game-focused event, is just a month away, and we now have many of the details about what it has in store for attendees.
Taking place May 20-21 in Japan, BitSummit–which gets a different name and theme each year–has been dubbed A 5th of BitSummit. Platinum Games veteran Atsushi Inaba will deliver the keynote, while both Nintendo and Twitch will serve as the event's main sponsors.

BitSummit will also see the return of musician Professor Sakamoto, who plays 8-bit music while wearing a Famicom on his head. It's pretty great.

Steep’s Next DLC Adds Sleds, Banana Costume, And More

Ubisoft today announced the next downloadable content for its extreme sports game Steep. Titled “Winterfest,” the expansion lets players take part in the “craziest in-game snow sports festival ever organized.” A big part of the expansion is the arrival of a new mode of traversal: a Winter Sled.
There are also 21 “wacky” new challenges to attempt, 10 more costumes to collect (banana and dinosaur suits are shown in the video), more customization items, and new bosses. All of the content is set in the Alps, not the Alaska region that was introduced earlier this year as DLC.
Winterfest launches on March 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It's included with Steep's $20 season pass and $80 gold edition (which contains the season pass) or it can be purchased by itself for $12.
Steep launched in December 2016. The game surpassed Ubisoft's sales expectations, though the publisher never disclosed what it was modeling for the game.

Water-Cooled GTX 1080 Ti From Corsair And MSI Released Today

Today, Corsair released the Hydro GFX GTX 1080 Ti, which was made in partnership with MSI. It's an overclocked version of the Nvidia graphics card that sports a built-in liquid cooling system to keep the card's temperatures as low as possible. The card also comes with a 120mm radiator and a 120mm white LED fan attached.
Compared to the Founders Edition of the GTX 1080 Ti, Corsair claims the Hydro GFX version stays nearly 50 percent cooler, even under peak load. This creates significant room for overclocking; according to Corsair, its card had a peak core clock speed a little over 1900 MHz, while the Founders Edition's peak core clock was about 1850 MHz.
The following are its core and memory clock speeds in three different modes out of the box:

Sean Bean, Who Dies A Lot In Movies, Talks About Why LOTR Death Is His Favorite

The characters that actor Sean Bean play in movies and TV shows have a tendency to die, but which death is his favorite? Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he said Boromir's death from Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring takes the morbid honor.
“It's my favorite death scene, and I've done a few,” he said with a launch. “You couldn't ask for a more heroic death.”
Boromir was killed by the Uruk-hai leader Lurtz in Fellowship after being pummeled by arrows. Bean wore a metal breastplate under his clothes that held the arrows in place. Across multiple takes, Bean acted as if he was getting shot. Thanks to his performance, this was one of the most powerful and memorable scene from across the entire trilogy.
Boromir's dying words to Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) in the movie are, “My brother, my captain, my king.” Bean, Mortensen, Jackson, and co-screenwriter Fran Walsh wrote the line (it was not in the book) over beers and wine the nigh..

NBA Playgrounds Official Roster Revealed

Many years have passed since the last arcade-style basketball game came out for home consoles, but it's a niche that NBA Playgrounds is hoping to fill. Gameplay videos of the in-development title have shown its ridiculously proportioned characters, an official NBA license, and high-flying aerial stunts. And now, we also know the complete character roster.
Playgrounds is being developed by Saber Interactive–one of the studios behind the Halo: The Master Chief Collection and a co-developer of the upcoming Quake Champions. An arcade-y basketball is a very different development direction to take for the development team, but it seems to have the full support of the NBA, and the game will include a roster of current and historic NBA superstars. Here's the list as it stands so far:

Excellent New PS4/PC Platformer Super Rude Bear Launches Soon

Super Rude Bear Resurrection, a challenging platformer in the vein of Super Meat Boy, finally has a release date.
Developer Alex Rose Games today announced that Super Rude Bear is slated to arrive for PS4 on May 2 and for PC (through Steam) on May 5. It'll cost $15 / £12 / €15 on both platforms. An Xbox One version of the game is also in development but has not yet been dated.
While undeniably similar in some regards to Super Meat Boy, which served as inspiration for the game, it features one especially notable distinction: Whenever you die, you respawn at the most recent checkpoint and your corpse persists. That body can then be used to protect you from hazards, be it a set of spikes or an arrow, essentially allowing your deaths to progressively make the game easier.
I had the opportunity to play the game at PAX East, and while it's enjoyable to play around with how a huge pile of corpses can modify a level, making it through a level untouched is thrilling. It has some fanta..
